Week 12 Highlights

One collectibles stood out during last week’s auction ending Sunday, March 26, a vintage set of blue and red Granbergs Aktiebolag Stockholm No. 201 Swedish playing cards sold for $370 after only 7 bids. A buy it now item of note that sold was a 1984 DC Comics Detective Comics #27 Oreo Cookie giveaway, graded by CBCS at a 9.9 MT sold for $1,000. 

Week 13 Preview

As this auction ends, the next auction will become available for bidding during its week-long run March 26 to April 2. Sports memorabilia will include two issues of Ebony Magazine featuring Muhammad Ali on the covers. There will be a selection of Colorforms original production art including artwork from the production of the Scooby Doo Colorforms Set. A lot of comic books in this week’s auction feature first appearances, such as Marvel Comics Howard the Duck #13 featuring the first appearance of Kiss. Modern collectibles in this week’s auction are a 1996 limited edition Hanna-Barbera Pioneers of Television Space Ghost Fossil watch and a 2009 Diamond Select Toys Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan classic phaser.

There were several collectibles the preformed well during last week’s auction ending Sunday, March 19. Vintage Disney collectibles that stood out included the 1930s Mickey and Minnie Mouse Lionel Handcar toy, that sold for $227 after 11 bids and the 1930s Geo. Borgfeldt Mickey Mouse walker celluloid wind-up toy, which fetched $514 after 15 bids. Other vintage collectibles that stood out were original political cartoon artwork by Gaar Williams Talk About a famine in China that ended at $227.49 after only 4 bids and the 1967 Jimi Hendrix and Cat Stevens Adelphi Theater concert handbill that sold for $296 after 12 bids.

The 1969 first printing Jim Salzer The Yardbirds with Jimmy Page concert poster sold for $188 after 14 bids, 1909 political cartoon by W. A. Carson U.P. System fetched $204 after nine bids, and 1918 political cartoon by Gaar Williams Been all Dressed Up Waitin’ to Go ended at $338 after seven bids.

A vintage 1954 Fisher Price Stage Lines Stagecoach pull toy sold for $177 after 22 bids and a Marvel Comics X-Men #95 graded and slabbed by CGC sold for the opening bid of $275. Vintage political cartoon artwork continues to sell at impressive rates, with the 1962 John Fischetti The Twist selling for $269 after seven bids and the 1954 Ray Evans Sr. Messing Up His Pictures fetching $295 after six bids.
